When we bought our first (and current) house, I became fixated on the idea of creating a cottage garden and one of the pieces of that chaotic puzzle included peonies. I was disappointed when I learned that when started from their bulbs, they can take almost 5 years to produce flowers. Much to my surprise, this spring a peony bush popped right in my front flower bed!
